Chesterfield Canal, Derbyshire

Historical Description

Chesterfield Canal, a canal in Derbyshire, Yorkshire, and Notts, 46 miles in length, extending from Chesterfield to Stockwith, where it connects with the river Trent, passing through Wheeldon Mill, Staveley, Renishaw, Killamarsh, Norwood, Kiveton Park, Shireoaks, Worksop, Retford, Hay-ton, Gringley, Walkeringham, and Misterton. It has a tunnel at Norwood 3102 yards in length, and another of 154 yards. The canal is owned by the M.S. & L.R.
