The Fal, Cornwall

Historical Description

Fal, The, a river of Cornwall. It rises to the west of Eoche; runs southward, about 16 miles, past Grampound and Tregony; becomes ramified with estuarial branches toward Tresilian, Truro, and other places; proceeds southwards, about 7 miles, to the sea at Falmouth; and forms there a spacious harbour. It has in late times come to be commonly called the Truro river.
