Cadgewith, Cornwall

Historical Description

Cadgewith, a fishing village on the coast of Cornwall, in a romantic valley, 2½ miles NNE of the Lizard. It has a post and telegraph office under Ruan Minor (R.S.O.) It is inhabited chiefly by fishermen, and is a coastguard station. A pit or amphitheatre near it (called the Devil's Frying-pan) is nearly 2 acres in area, with sides 200 feet high.
