Bishop Rock, Cornwall
Historical Description
Bishop-Rock, an insulated rock of the Scilly Isles, westward of the main group, and 7 miles distant from Hugh Town. It is nearly covered at high water. A cast-iron lighthouse was nearly completed on it in 1850, but was then swept away by a gale, and a granite lighthouse was then planned, took two years to be founded, and was successfully completed.
