The Lambourn, Berkshire

Historical Description

Lambourn, The, a river of Berks, rising on the SW border of the county, near the Ridge Way, and running about 16 miles south-eastward, past Lambourn, Shefford, Welford, Boxford, and Shaw, to the Kennet 1½ mile below Newbury. It abounds with trout, which are said to be of a paler colour than those which are found in the Kennet.
