St. Mary, Ayston, Rutland

Description

The church of St. Mary is an edifice of stone in the Perpendicular style, consisting of chancel, nave, aisles, south porch and an embattled western tower containing 4 bells; one of which is dated 1626; the tenor bell was presented by the Rev Sir J. H. Fludyer bart. in 1877 in commemoration of his having completed the fiftieth year of his ministry as curate and rector in this parish: there is a stained window in the south aisle: the church affords 150 sittings.
