All Saints, Closworth, Somerset
Description
The church of All Saints is a perpendicular building of stone, consisting of chancel, nave, north porch and an embattled western tower with pinnacles, and containing 5 bells: there are four stained windows: the church was partially restored in 1875, at a cost of £1,200, by the widow of the Rev. Edward Bower, B.A. rector from 1828, and the work completed in the early 1900's: there are sittings for 140 persons: in the churchyard is an ancient cross and a tomb to Thomas Purdue, a bellfounder of repute, whose foundry stood where is now the rector's orchard; he died in 1711.
