St. Nicholas, Cublington, Buckinghamshire

Description

The parish church of St. Nicholas is an edifice of stone in the Perpendicular style, consisting of chancel, nave, with west gallery, south porch and an embattled western tower containing 2 bells and a clock added in 1927: in the church is a copy of Foxe's Book of Martyn, which was formerly chained to the desk on which it was placed in 1568: a brass in the chancel commemorates John Dervyle, 1410, first rector of the church: the church, partly restored in 1861, was repaired externally and furnished with a new tiled roof during the year 1887: on the north wall is a marble tablet bearing the names of those men of the parish who lost their lives in the Great War, 1914-18: the church was again restored in 1927: there are 120 sittings.
