Chapel of St. Denis, Faxton, Northamptonshire
Description
The chapel of St. Denis is a plain and low building of stone, consisting of chancel, nave and aisles, and a bell-cote on the western gable, containing 2 bells: it contains a fine monument to Sir Augustine Nichols kt. justice of the Common Pleas and Chancellor to Charles, Prince of Wales, afterwards Charles I.; he was born at Ecton in 1559, and was sometime resident here, but died August 3rd, 1616, whilst on the summer circuit at Kendal, in the parish church of which he was buried and where there is another monument to him, restored in 1815, and bearing a similar inscription.
