St. Michael, Beer Hackett, Dorset

Description

The parish church of St Michael is a stone building in the Early English style, consisting of chancel, nave, south porch, and a western tower containing 3 bells: the stained east window is a memorial to the Rev. Frank Newington B.A. vicar of Osmington, who died October 10, 1877: the church was rebuilt in 1882, with the exception of the tower, at a cost of £1,100, and in 1897 the tower was rebuilt at a cost of £570; there are 100 sittings.

Church Records

The parish register of baptisms, marriages and burials begins in 1549. The original register books are now deposited with the Dorset Archives Service, but have been digitised by Ancestry.co.uk and made available on their site (subscription required).
