St. Mary, Iwerne Steepleton, Dorset

Description

The parish church of St. Mary is a small edifice of stone in the Early English style, consisting of chancel and nave, without either tower or steeple: there is a Norman chancel arch: the chancel retains a piscina and there are four stained windows, two of which are memorials to Horace 6th and last Baron Rivers, who died 31 March, 1880: there are 60 sittings.

Church Records

The parish register of baptisms, marriages and burials begins in 1755. The original register books are now deposited with the Dorset Archives Service, but have been digitised by Ancestry.co.uk and made available on their site (subscription required).
