St. Gabriel, Stanton St Gabriel, Dorset

Description

The parish church of St. Gabriel, erected in 1841, 1 1/2 miles inland, is a plain building of stone, consisting of chancel, nave, west porch and a western turret containing one bell: the rood screen and Norman font were transferred from the old church. The old church, now a picturesque ruin, stands near the sea coast.

Church Records

The parish register dates from the year 1825. The original register books are now deposited with the Dorset Archives Service, but have been digitised by Ancestry.co.uk and made available on their site (subscription required).
