St. Cuthbert, Oborne, Dorset

Description

The parish church of St. Cuthbert, rebuilt on a new site in 1862 in the Early English style, is of stone, consisting of chancel, nave, south porch, and a small embattled western turret containing one bell: in the chancel are three fine stained windows: there are sittings for 129 persons. The chancel of the old church is still standing: in 1914 the churchyard adjoining the old church was closed.

The parish register dates from the year 1567. The original register books are now deposited with the Dorset Archives Service, but have been digitised by Ancestry.co.uk and made available on their site (subscription required).
