St. Peter, Hinton St Mary, Dorset

Description

The parish church of St. Peter, rebuilt, with the exception of the tower, in 1846, is an edifice in the Perpendicular style, and consists of chancel, nave, south porch and an embattled western tower, with pinnacles, containing 2 bells: there is a monument to the Freke family, dated 1655: the church affords 140 sittings.

The parish register of baptisms, marriages and burials begins in 1581. The original register books are now deposited with the Dorset Archives Service, but have been digitised by Ancestry.co.uk and made available on their site (subscription required).
