St. Martin, Brasted, Kent
Description
The church of St. Martin, entirely rebuilt, with the exception of the tower, in 1880, is of Kentish ragstone; the tower contains 6 bells: there are tombs and monuments to the Heath and Turton families: a new organ was presented in 1905 by Frank Williams esq. of Brasted Hall, and a stained east window was erected in 1904 by Richard Durtnell esq.; the tower was restored in 1882 and the bells recast and rehung, at a cost of about £1,400: a turret clock, the gift of Mrs. Durtnell, in memory of her husband, Richard Durtnell esq. was inserted in the church tower in 1913 at a cost of £100: the church affords 550 sittings.
