Scratchbury, Wiltshire
Historical Description
Scratchbury, an ancient British camp in the SW of Wiltshire, adjacent to the Salisbury and Trowbridge railway, 3 miles ESE of Warminster. It occupies 40 acres, has a circular form 1 mile and 86 yards in circuit, is encompassed by a ditch and a rampart in some parts 66 feet high, has outworks and three entrances, and encloses an inner camp.
