Nunton with Bodenham, Wiltshire

Historical Description

Nunton-with-Bodenham, a parish in Wiltshire, on the river Avon, 3½ miles SSE of Salisbury station on the G.W.R. and L. & S.W.R. It has a post office at Bodenham, under Salisbury; money order office, East Hamham; telegraph office, Alderbury. Acreage, 1214; population, 324. There is a parish council consisting of seven members. It also sends one member to the district council. New Hall belonged formerly to the Batts, and is now the property of the Buckley family. The living is a perpetual curacy, annexed to the vicarage of Downton, in the diocese of Salisbury; net value, £40, The church has been restored. There is a Baptist chapel.
