Skidbrooke, Lincolnshire
Historical Description
Skidbrooke, a parish in Lincolnshire, 1¼ mile from the coast, 2¼ miles NE from Saltfleetby station on the Louth and East Coast branch of the G.N.R., and 10 ENE from Louth. Post town, Louth; money order and telegraph office, North Somercotes. The parish contains also the hamlet of Saltfleet, which is noticed separately, and comprises 2404 acres; population, 384, There is a parish council consisting of seven members. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Lincoln; gross value, £297 with residence. The church is a fine ancient building of stone, in the Early English, Decorated, and Perpendicular styles, consisting of chancel, nave, aisles, S porch, and an embattled western tower. There is a Free Methodist chapel.
