Scredington, Lincolnshire

Historical Description

Scredington, a village and a small parish in Lincolnshire. The village stands near the Bourn and Sleaford branch of the G.N.R., on which it has a station, called Aswarby and Scredington, 3½ miles SE by S of Sleaford. Post town, Falkingham; money order and telegraph office, Osbourneby. The parish contains also the hamlets of Northbeck, Neafold Hill, Hambledon, and Highgate. Acreage, 2634; population, 319. There is a parish council consisting of five members. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Lincoln; net value, £186 with residence. Patrons, the Dean and Chapter of Lincoln. The church is a small but ancient edifice of stone in the Early English style. There are a Wesleyan chapel and some small charities.
