Historical Description
Saltfleetby St Peter, a parish in Lincolnshire, 8 miles E by N of Louth, with a station on the Louth and East Coast branch of the G.N.R. Acreage, 2254; population of the civil parish, 343; of the ecclesiastical, 304. There is a parish council consisting of seven members. Saltfleetby House is a chief residence, and a prospect tower is near it commanding extensive views. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Lincoln; net value, £192. Patron, Oriel College, Oxford. The church, rebuilt in 1877, is an edifice of stone in the Early English style, consisting of chancel, nave, aisles, S porch, and a western bell-cot. The tower of the former church still stands, and is used as a cemetery chapel. There are Primitive Methodist and Wesleyan chapels.
