Normanby on the Wold, Lincolnshire
Historical Description
Normanby-on-the Wold, a village and a parish in Lincolnshire, 1½ mile ENE of Usselby station on the Lincoln and Hull branch of the M.S. & L.R., and 4¾ miles NNE of Market Rasen. Post town, Lincoln; money order office, Claxby; telegraph office, Market Rasen. Acreage, 1981; population of the civil parish, 139; of the ecclesiastical, with Claxby, 365. The manor belongs to the Earl of Yarborough, who also owns all the land with the exception of the glebe. The living is a rectory, annexed to the rectory of Claxby, in. The diocese of Lincoln; joint gross value, £1030 with residence. The church, a building of stone in the Early Norman and Decorated styles, was restored and enlarged in 1868.
