Kesteven, Parts of, Lincolnshire

Historical Description

Kesteven, Parts of, an administrative county of Lincolnshire, bounded on the N and the NE by the Parts of Lind-sey, on the S by Northamptonshire, on the SW by Rutlandshire, on the W by Leicestershire and Notts. Its length from N to S is 41 miles, its greatest breadth is 24½ miles, and its area is 471, 749 acres. It includes the boroughs of Grantham and Stamford, the former having a separate police force, while the latter is included in the county; has a separate court of quarter sessions, and is divided into four petty sessional divisions; and contains 211 entire civil parishes, while its population is 105, 910.
