Historical Description

Wiswell or Wiswall, a township, with a village, in Whalley parish, Lancashire, 3 miles S of Clitheroe, and 1 mile from Whalley station on the L. & Y.R. Post town, Blackburn; money order and telegraph office, Whalley. The township comprises Barrow Bridge. Acreage, 1693; population, 728. There are calico-printing works. The manor belongs to the Longworth family. There is a Congregational chapel.
