Historical Description
Oldham, Ashton-under-Lyne, and Guidebridge Railway, a railway in the SE of Lancashire, connecting the places named in its title. The system was authorized in 1857, on a capital of £140,000 in shares and £46,600 in loans; was opened in Aug. 1861; and was vested mutually in the North-Western and the Manchester and Sheffield, at 4½ per cent, in 1862.
