Hey, Lancashire

Historical Description

Hey, a hamlet and an ecclesiastical parish partly in Ashton-nnder-Lyne parish, Lancashire, and Saddleworth parish, W.R. Yorkshire. It was a chapel of ease under Ashton from 1742 to 1860, when it was constituted a parish. Post town, Oldham; money order and telegraph office, Lees. Population, 3545. The living of Hey or Lees is a vicarage in the diocese of Manchester; gross value, £160 with residence. The church is a plain building in the Early English style, with chancel, nave, and aisles.
