Grimsargh, Lancashire

Historical Description

Grimsargh, a township and an ecclesiastical parish in Lancashire. The township is conjoint with Brockholes, lies on the Preston and Longridge railway, near the river Ribble, 4 miles NE of Preston. It has a station on the railway and a post office under Preston; money order and telegraph office, Whittingham. Acreage, 1937; population, 455, of whom 23 are in the county borough of Preston. The ecclesiastical parish was constituted in 1875, and is more extensive than the township. Population, 461. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Manchester; gross value, £110 with residence. Patron, the Vicar of Preston. The church was restored and enlarged in 1868, consists of nave, chancel, and aisle, with a porch, and has a brass of the Cross family.
