Historical Description

Gathurst, a small village in Shevington parish, Lancashire, with a station on the Wigan and Southport section of the L. & Y.R., about 1 mile from Shevington. The Roburite Explosives Company, Limited, has extensive works here— Gatley. See STOCKPORT ETCHELLS. Gatten-with-Stitt, a township in Ratlinghope parish,, Salop, 5½ miles NW of Church Stretton.
