Hentland, Herefordshire

Historical Description

Hentland, a parish in Herefordshire, on the river Wye, 4 miles NW of Ross. It contains the village of Hoarwithy, and the hamlets of Although, Rynastone, Treaddow, and Treyseck. There is a post, money order, and telegraph office at Hoarwithy, under Ross. Acreage, 2647; population of the civil parish, 550; of the ecclesiastical, 564. Rynastone House is the chief residence. The living is a vicarage, united with the chapelry of Hoarwithy, in the diocese of Hereford; gross value, -£152. Patrons, the Dean and Chapter of Hereford. The church is Late Decorated English, with an embattled tower. There are a chapel of ease at Hoarwithy, and a Congregational chapel.
