The Catwater or Plym, Devon

Historical Description

Catwater or Plym, The, a river of Devonshire. It rises in Dartmoor, near Sheep's Tor, and runs 16 miles south-south-westward to Plymouth Sound, at Plymouth. It there forms inside of Mount Batten a good estuarial harbour, and is crossed by a five-arched iron bridge 500 feet long, erected in 1827.
