Offwell, Devon

Historical Description

Offwell, a village and a parish in Devonshire. The village stands 2½ miles ESE of Honiton station on the L. &S.W.R. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Honiton. The parish contains also part of the village of Wilmington. Acreage, 2038; population of the civil parish, 264; of the ecclesiastical, 274. Offwell House is the chief residence. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Exeter; gross value, £330 with residence. The church is of the 13th century; consists of nave, N aisle, and chancel, with W tower; has a fine memorial three-light E window, and contains some monuments.
