St. Andrew, Leighterton, Gloucestershire

Description

The church of St. Andrew, formerly dedicated to St. James, is a building of stone, in the Early English style, consisting of chancel, nave, north aisle, organ chamber, south porch and a tower with small wooden spire, containing a clock and 10 bells: there is an ancient and curious font: the chapel was restored and a spire added to the tower in 1877, at a cost of £1,530, and is now licensed for marriages.

Church Records

The parish register of St. Mary, Boxwell, including Leighterton, dates from the year 1548 for baptisms and burials; marriages, 1590.
